My Whole Unit Reflection

During the time of my class learning about landforms and how their formed and how that  happens, I learnt many things that fascinated me about the earths land.

EQ answering: Why does the earth look the way it does?
The earth looks the way it does due to several different things that shape it to what it is now.  For example erosion, erosion is when water or ice, wind, chemicals shape the earth. An example of erosion would be when your at a beach and the water is putting a force on the sand and pulling it away with it back into the ocean. Some times the our earth changes its shape  due to many different natural disasters. For example an earth quake can make a big crack or make a piece of land fall. A tsunami can break land apart or drift land away. Same as all kind of disasters like sink holes or hurricanes or acid rain which can also change the shape.  Another three things do it like weathering,  weathering is when rocks and other pieces of land break down due to exposure to the atmosphere and biological organisms. Weathering is caused by water, ice, acids, salt and plants. Some thing else that effects the earths shape is climate. Climate changes the surfaces by creating glaciers that can cut peaks of mountains. Also these glaciers can form erosion land marks.  Also something called  Uplifting. Uplifting is when two earth plates combine and one grows on top of the other  and creates mountains. Also lakes and rivers that are in-between a canyon or valley are technically erosion.  So our earth does change a whole lot in many different ways even right now as you read this article erosion is happening. Thats how our world evolved and changed.

Some fun things that I experienced are....

The wadi field trip, this trip gave me a visual explanation of erosion

The stream table experiment, this also gave me a visual explanation

Also all the videos that we saw in class gave good explanation

Virtual reality thoughts: In my virtual reality experience I felt like I was in the canyon and the falls. For the grand canyon I enjoyed seeing it in close ups. Also seeing the rocks and how they have been eroded.  For the Victoria falls I much more enjoyed it. I enjoyed the Victoria  falls more because I felt it was more adventurous and scary. Which in my perspective is more fun. I saw the cliff of the fall and the running waters.
Stream table thoughts: My thoughts on the stream table are the visual explanations they give. When I saw the                                                                                            stream table I got a connection to the outside world  about erosion.  Which helped me understand the processes and how and when erosion happens.
